Simon is the Group Managing Director and co-founder of bdhSterling. Simon is an advocate of goal-based financial planning and believes that, through the development of lifetime financial plans, our role at bdhSterling is to bring clarity and certainty to our clients’ financial lives with the overall aim of guiding clients to achieve their desired lifestyle. Simon began his career in financial services in 1998 within the corporate pensions division of a FTSE 100 company. He has spent the last 15 years’ working as a financial planner, both in the UK and Australia, whilst leading the growth of the bdhSterling Group.
On the weekends he enjoys spending his time with his partner Kirsty and young children Maddison and Harry. He is a keen sports fan with football his favoured game, although participation is restricted to spectating these days.
Paul, a co-founder of bdhSterling, heads the Financial Planning team in the UK. After working in UK financial services since 1991 and observing how financial advice has evolved in that time, Paul believes that helping clients to achieve their life’s ambitions through goal-based planning is the key to a successful relationship between adviser and client. It is a philosophy that has been instilled in the financial planners within the bdhSterling team.
Paul holds the UK’s Advanced Financial Planning Certificate and has written articles and been quoted many times in the financial press.
Paul enjoys walks, watching football and playing the occasional frame of snooker.
Khan’s financial services career began in 2011 when he joined bdhSterling as an administrator before becoming the office manager in 2014. Having managed both the Administration and Paraplanning departments, Khan now holds the role of Group Director of Operations where he is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the systems and controls in place enable the bdhSterling team to deliver the highest level of service to our clients.
Khan’s role includes oversight of the servicing teams both in our UK and Australian offices, whilst unifying the processes across the company, enabling all departments within bdhSterling to bring together a positive customer experience to our clients. Prior to bdhSterling, Khan worked as a manager in the customer service industry.
In his spare time, Khan has a keen interest in music, DJ’ing in bars around London and enjoys playing football at the weekends.
Before joining bdhSterling, Stephen worked at Director level for several large organisations in strategy, marketing and commercial finance, which gives him a broad perspective on Financial Planning and investment. He brings to his Financial Planning roles, significant experience working with and coaching others to achieve their goals.
More recently, Stephen has worked with Independent Financial Advisors on life coaching, financial wellbeing, employee benefits and now, paraplanning. He enjoys financial planning because he can see the impact that a good financial plan can have on people lives. As an Australian moving to the UK he also learnt some harsh financial lessons through lack of awareness of the differences between the two countries. He wants to make sure he can give others the opportunity to receive sound advice and avoid some of the same errors. Stephen also supports our marketing and client experience development.
Stephen completed the Chartered Institute of Insurance financial planning diploma in record time and is now on his journey to attaining chartered status. Stephen has a Ph.D. and a MBA.
Stephen spends much of his time coaching netball at National Club and Regional level, and also runs classes for Primary school children to learn the fundamentals. He loves cycling, especially mountain biking, exploring the UK and watching sport – Australian Rules Football and Netball.
Ross began his career in financial services in 2003 after completing his university studies. This was in a support role with a small firm of advisers with a national network where he spent two years obtaining his initial qualifications, but also learning the value of cashflow planning to the advice process.
After two years he moved to a national Independent Financial Adviser firm expanding on his knowledge and experiences whilst introducing the benefits of holistic financial planning to colleagues. Ross has acquired an in-depth technical knowledge of the UK financial planning sector working with colleagues and clients on achieving their objectives. His qualifications in areas such as pension planning has seen him obtain the Chartered Financial Planner status with the Personal Finance Society.
He made the move to bdhSterling in April 2017 to share his knowledge, experience and enthusiasm for his work with the team and ensure that clients get the best possible planning and advice.
Ross lives in Surrey with his wife and two daughters, and if time permits enjoys a game of golf (good or bad), watching sport or playing the guitar.
Kevin has been working in the financial services industry for over 25 years and is part of bdhSterling’s UK Financial Planning team.
When it comes to financial planning Kevin firmly believes that it is essential to find out what his client’s aspirations are so that he can help them achieve them. His extensive experience, combined with the use of tools such as cash flow forecasting, means Kevin can design bespoke financial plans to help his clients meet their goals.
Prior to joining bdhSterling, Kevin was a financial adviser for two of the leading high street banks and more recently for an accountancy firm – within their wealth management division. Kevin joined bdhSterling in January 2019 as part of the UK Financial Planning team.
Kevin is married with 2 children. He is a keen footballer and in his spare time he coaches his youngest boy’s football team. He is also the chairman of his local scout group.
Matthew spent 14 years as a Police Officer before becoming a Financial Planner, finishing as a Detective Sergeant in the Metropolitan Police. After obtaining the relevant Financial Services qualifications, Matthew trained at a firm in the City of London before moving to bdhSterling and joining the UK adviser team.
Matthew believes that planning for your financial future at an early stage is the key to success. Matthew helps clients set achievable lifetime plans so that they can reach their goals, whilst also balancing the need to live the lifestyle that they want. Using cash flow modelling to show clients how their plans will look moving forward has proven to be very helpful. Matthew is also a specialist care fees adviser and can help clients determine the best way to fund their care home fees, securing their care for as long as they need it.
Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He is a keen photographer, and enjoys running and cycling. In 2016 Matthew completed the Ironman UK triathlon and is planning to enter some local triathlons in the coming year.
Paul has been in the financial services industry for over 20 years. For the last decade he has specialised in advising clients who are moving overseas, assessing their options (particularly in relation to their pensions) with the aim of bringing clarity to their situation and the best financial outcome for their future. Paul believes in putting the client first, ensuring that they understand their pensions and investments, the changes and opportunities that a move overseas brings with it and any legislation that needs to be considered, so that they can make the correct decisions.
Paul first started in the UK Financial Services sector in 1994, working for a variety of companies in finance and personal pensions. After a short career break travelling around Australia, Paul joined pension provider Denton’s in 2005 as a SIPP and SSAS specialist. In 2009, he joined an IFA firm as an adviser, providing financial advice (including pensions) to people migrating to Australia and New Zealand.
Paul performs his own songs on acoustic guitar and plays bass in a rock band. He is involved with a dog charity and enjoys spending time with his wife, dog and cat, as well as playing golf, snooker, darts and table tennis.
Steph joined bdhSterling in April 2014 as an Administrator, quickly moving to Senior Administrator to Client Manager and now to her current role as Paraplanning Manager.
Now, Steph heads up the Paraplanning team and ensures delivery of first-class advice to bdhSterling clients and planners. Steph is an integral part of the management team, working closely with all departments to develop and deliver the very best financial solutions for clients. Steph is a fundamental part of the wider operations of the business and has spent time in our overseas offices, helping with the integration of our systems and providing mentorship and coaching to our Australian team.
Steph is a strong advocate for training and development of employees, creating and overseeing our very own in-house Admin Academy. Steph regularly encourages her team and others, ensuring that they are always striving for continuous improvement and personal development.
Steph has a deep understanding of the entire bdhSterling client journey and utilises this to ensure that bdhSterling provides sound advice to help clients meet their financial goals. Steph spent 3 years working for a bespoke SIPP provider in Bristol, where she was our Account Manager, establishing the foundations of her relationship with the bdhSterling team.
Steph loves to be social and can often be found catching up with friends and family on the weekend.
Lucinda provides financial analysis and recommendations for international clients to help achieve their financial goals. As an “expat” herself she has an appreciation for the challenges and complexities of relocating overseas and managing pensions and investments in multiple countries.
Lucinda is a Physical Chemist by training and has a wide history in Research, Logistics, Marketing and Business. After a career break (and relocating to the UK from Australia) she started her journey in the financial services industry five years ago with Premier Financial Management She has a M.Sc MBA DipPFS. And is studying for Advanced DipPFS
Lucinda was born is Australia, relocating to the UK with her family in 2007 and is now a British citizen. She enjoys netball and cycling and the odd pub-quiz (and moaning about the weather).
Louise has been in the financial services industry for over 20 years. She provides support to the UK financial planners with research, cashflow planning and preparing advice.
Louise enjoys helping to establish a client’s financial plan and ensuring they are on track to meet their goals. Louise believes the client should be at the centre of all we do, and their client journey should be a long-term partnership with bdhSterling. She also very much enjoys the more complex side of financial planning.
Prior to joining bdhSterling (and motherhood) Louise was a successful financial adviser for over 13 years. With this knowledge Louise is also helping to strengthen our UK business, ensuring we deliver high quality, holistic financial planning to our UK clients.
With the technical side taken care of at work, Louise has recently enrolled in a dress making course to develop her creative side!
Jordan has a passion for pensions and strives to produce high quality work wherever possible. Jordan joined bdhSterling in January 2017, initially in our administration team. In his current role, he liaises with our Financial Planners to produce suitability reports for our Cross-Border clients.
Jordan helps orchestrate pension transfers to Australia, especially during the busy end of tax year season, as well as arranging investments and currency trades. Jordan also sits on our Investment Committee which reviews the ongoing suitability of our approved product partners.
Prior to joining bdhSterling, Jordan worked as a Sales Supervisor for a national brand and a Resource Coordinator for a fire safety company. He studied Accounting and Law at Bournemouth University and has spent time exploring Australia.
Jordan is an avid Tottenham Hotspur fan and a keen traveller.
As a Paraplanner, Kevin’s primary role is to liaise with our highly skilled Financial Planners to compose recommendation letters for our clients. This can be anything from a straightforward fund switch to a complex transfer strategy, which covers multiple jurisdictions. His role also includes placing investments, overseeing currency trades and carrying out complex calculations to ensure we are recommending a product that can help achieve our client’s objectives. Prior to joining bdhSterling, Kevin built up 10 years’ experience in the Financial Services industry.
Kevin is a keen fan of all sports and plays in a Darts league in Epsom every Monday night.
Peter plays a leading role in transferring client’s pensions overseas to qualifying schemes. He does this by communicating with SIPP providers and our staff in Australia to ensure that transfer strategies are carried out correctly, and that client’s funds arrive in their destination country as quickly and seamlessly as possible. As a paraplanner he works directly with our advisers to understand client’s objectives, and then gathers the necessary information to complete reports and tailor recommendations to their needs.
Before joining bdhSterling Peter worked at the Financial Ombudsman Service where he adjudicated disputes between consumers and their providers. Prior to this he spent five years working in compliance for Lloyds Banking Group, ensuring staff were following process and group standards were being met.
Peter is an avid traveller. Having lived in the US as a teenager he has gone on to travel extensively, completing backpacking trips in both South America and Asia. Closer to home his other great interest is in live music, regularly watching bands across London.
Melissa helps with the day to day running of the UK administration team and has a strong background in the pension transfer process and industry as a whole. She believes that planning for later life is crucial to ensure a comfortable (and fun-filled!) retirement. She has a meticulous eye for detail and is always looking for ways we can improve the service we provide to our clients.
Before working for bdhSterling, Melissa worked for Legal & General in the Pensions Administration Team, where she was responsible for administrating clients’ pension savings from the initial set up to retirement and undertook several projects to improve customer service.
In her free time, Melissa absorbs herself in writing fiction, with the hope to see her name in print one day!
Kraig is a client administrator with over 10 years’ experience in customer service. His objective is to provide the highest level of administration and accuracy with every task, utilising great teamwork and excellent client focus. Prior to bdhSterling Kraig was a team leader for a financial services company specialising in UK ISA’s, prior to that Kraig spent 10 years at one of the world’s largest insurance firms where he managed an administration team.
In his spare time Kraig has 2 passions – his football team and his family.
Nicole enjoyed 2 years as a scheme administrator with Aviva before joining bdhSterling to further her administrative skills and customer service experience.
Nicole is a keen darts enthusiast who would not look out of place if seen in the Ally Pally. If she is not standing in front of a dartboard, she can be found out walking with her dogs, Bruce & Bracken.
George worked for 2 years at his local Sainsburys just after coming out of sixth form and learnt many transferable customer service skills which he has been able to emulate since working for us at bdhSterling.
George’s love for American football and fantasy football has made for many tense Sunday evenings with friends. If he is not cheering on the Baltimore Ravens, he may be found eyeing up a sausage roll or two at his favourite pastry shop, Greggs.
Laura is a vital member of the team, sharing her wealth of knowledge and customer experience with new team members. Her skills shine in building strong relationships with our clients, ensuring they receive the highest standard of service.
Laura previously worked for Atkins as an Administration Assistant / Office Manager. Her role was very varied, touching several areas of the business such as, financial assistance, marketing, website development and coordinating events.
In her spare time, Laura loves to shop, be with her family and go on holiday. Along with this she also works on her own business, which specialises in personalised gifts & accessories.
In 2018, Natasha joined bdhSterling bringing a wealth of organisational skills to the operations team, along with her passion for strategic process. She works closely with the servicing teams to identify, develop and implement operational procedures across the business. Natasha is an advocate for continuous improvement and is always striving to develop our systems, empowering bdhSterling to provide a distinguished client experience.
Natasha’s Financial Services career began in 2016, overseeing the Relationship Management team for a leading Cash Advance lender. Natasha’s primary focus has always been within the client journey, ensuring her clients receive a seamless service.
Natasha is studying towards obtaining her PRINCE 2 Practitioner certification, allowing her to hone her skills to successfully deliver projects.
Natasha has a great love for traveling and has been lucky enough to explore many of her bucket list locations, of which New Zealand is a favourite. She enjoys all things adventure, which may have resulted in a bungee jump and skydive… or two!
Carla brings 15 years of experience within Finance & HR Management, working across various specialisms, helping to streamline efficiencies for growing SME’s.
Carla joined bdhSterling as our first Financial Controller and then took on the additional role of HR Manager to utilise her skills and passion for people. She strongly believes that focusing on customer values are of integral importance to everyone we bring into the business.
She has used her strength in developing systems and processes to restructure and evolve our Financial and Management Reporting and Budgeting processes, whilst also working closely with our Australian offices to align the Group Finance Function. Carla also works closely with our Finance & Office Administrator in the UK and our Accountant in Australia, developing sophisticated reports which deliver crucial Management information to the Directors of the business, helping to drive the business forward.
In her spare time Carla enjoys Body Combat and Yoga classes to balance out her love of socialising at the weekend. At home you will find her adorable 16-year-old cat ‘Precious’ Poppy runs rings around her!
Sam directly supports the Financial Controller & HR Manager to maintain accurate accounting records, working on client accounts and monthly reports, whist also ensuring the smooth day to day running of the office. She has a strong work ethic and believes the key to success is working in a solid team, building relationships and ensuring we all work towards the company’s goals.
Sam’s future objectives are to utilise her previous Financial Analyst experience, and strong reporting skills, to work closely with the Financial Controller on all Management reporting requirements. Sam has many years of Finance experience working in a variety of roles, including some blue-chip companies. In her time, she has managed projects involving the transition of the Euro where her knowledge to minimize FX exposure was key.
Sam loves spending time with her family who all have a desire for sport. In her spare time, she is a dedicated runner and has ran The London Marathon and many half marathons raising money for her charity The Royal Marsden.
