Simon is the Group Managing Director and co-founder of bdhSterling. Simon began his career in financial services in 1998 within the corporate pension’s division of a FTSE 100 company. He has spent the last 14 years’ working as a financial planner, both in the UK and Australia, whilst leading the growth of the bdhSterling Group.
Simon is an advocate of goal based financial planning and believes that, through the development of lifetime financial plans, our role at bdhSterling is to bring clarity and certainty to our clients’ financial lives with the overall aim of helping clients to achieve their desired lifestyle.
Simon holds financial planning diplomas in the UK and Australia, is a member of the Personal Finance Society and is a Pension Transfer Specialist.
On the weekends he enjoys spending his time with his partner Kirsty and his young daughter Maddison. He is a keen sports fan with football his favoured game, although participation is restricted to spectating these days.
Paul, a co-founder of bdhSterling, heads the Financial Planning team in the UK.
After working in UK financial services since 1991 and observing how financial advice has evolved in that time, Paul believes that helping clients to achieve their life’s ambitions through goal-based planning is the key to a successful relationship between adviser and client.
It is a philosophy that has been instilled in the financial planners within the bdhSterling team.
Paul, holds the UK’s Advanced Financial Planning Certificate, and has written articles and been quoted many times in the financial press.
Paul enjoys walks, watching football and playing the occasional frame of snooker.
Khan’s financial services career began in 2011 when he joined bdhSterling as an administrator before becoming the office manager in 2014. Having managed both the Administration and Paraplanning departments, Khan now occupies the role of Group Director of Operations where he is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the systems and controls in place enable the operations team to deliver the highest level of service to our clients.
Khan’s role includes overseeing the servicing teams whilst unifying the processes within the company, which enable bdhSterling to bring together a positive customer experience to our clients.
Prior to his career with bdhSterling, Khan worked as a manager in the customer service industry. He holds a BA in Business Management and is part way through obtaining his Diploma in Financial Planning.
In his spare time, Khan has a keen interest in music, DJ’ing in bars in and around London and also enjoys playing football at the weekends.
Ross began his career in financial services in 2003 after completing his university studies. This was in a support role with a small firm of advisers with a national network where he spent two years obtaining his initial qualifications, but also learning the value of cashflow planning to the advice process.
After two years he moved to a national Independent Financial Adviser firm expanding on his knowledge and experiences whilst introducing the benefits of holistic financial planning to colleagues. Ross has acquired an in-depth technical knowledge of the UK financial planning sector working with colleagues and clients on achieving their objectives. His qualifications in areas such as pension planning has seen him obtain the Chartered Financial Planner status with the Personal Finance Society.
He made the move to bdhSterling in April 2017 to share his knowledge, experience and enthusiasm for his work with the team and ensure that clients get the best possible planning and advice.
Ross lives in Surrey with his wife and two daughters, and if time permits enjoys a game of golf (good or bad), watching sport or playing the guitar.
Paul first started in the UK Financial Services sector in 1996 with Cornhill and then joined pension providers Dentons in 2005 as a SIPP and SSAS specialist.
In 2009, he joined a small IFA firm as an adviser. In 2011, Paul brought his significant experience to bdhSterling, where he provides financial planning advice for clients at all stages of their lives. He specialises in providing pension planning and protection advice, as well as Cash Flow Modelling forecasting. He regularly presents seminars to employees of universities and local authorities, to help them to understand financial matters in more detail.
Paul holds the Diploma in Financial Planning and has attained the Advanced Diploma in Pension Planning. He is working towards becoming a Chartered Financial Planner.
Paul performs his own songs on acoustic guitar and plays bass in 2 rock bands. He is involved with a dog charity and enjoys spending time with his wife and two dogs.
Jonathan joined bdhSterling in 2013 as an administrator. During this time, Jonathan has spent a successful six months working for bdhSterling in New South Wales. On returning, Jonathan evolved into a paraplanner, being responsible for conducting research and consistently delivering high quality financial planning reports for our clients. Now as a Financial Planner, Jonathan prides himself on his enthusiasm to help people with their financial planning arrangements and having the ability to build strong, lasting relationships.
Jonathan holds a BA (Hons) in English from the University of Surrey and has an Diploma in Financial Advice. Jonathan is a fully qualified Chartered Financial Planner.
In his spare time, Jonathan has a keen interest in health and fitness, enjoys spending time with his family and is passionate about personal development for himself and others.
Matthew spent 14 years as a Police Officer before becoming a Financial Planner, finishing as a Detective Sergeant in the Metropolitan Police. After obtaining the relevant Financial Services qualifications, Matthew trained at a firm in the City of London for a year, before moving to bdhSterling and joining the UK adviser team.
Matthew believes that planning for your financial future at an early stage is the key to success. Matthew helps clients set achievable lifetime plans so that they can reach their goals, whilst also balancing the need to live the lifestyle that they want. Using cash flow modelling to show clients how their plans will look moving forward has proven to be very helpful.
Matthew holds a law degree from the University of the West of England, the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and is working towards achieving Chartered Financial Planner status.
Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He is a keen photographer, photographing weddings and family portraits. In 2016 Matthew completed the Ironman UK triathlon and is planning to enter some local triathlons in the coming year.
Kevin started working in Financial Services over 25 years ago and has previously worked as a financial adviser for two of the
leading high street banks and more recently for an accountancy firm – within their wealth management department. Kevin joined
bdhSterling in January 2019 as part of the UK Financial Planning team
When it comes to financial planning Kevin firmly believes that it is essential to find out what the clients are looking to achieve and
what their aspirations are. With his experience, combined with the use of tools such as cash flow forecasting, Kevin can design a
bespoke financial plan to help a client meet their goals.
Kevin holds a Diploma in Financial Planning and feels very strongly regarding self-development. He is currently working towards
achieving Charter Financial Planning Status.
Kevin is married with 2 children. He is a keen footballer and in his spare time he coaches his youngest boy’s football team. He is
also the chairman of his local scout group.
Steph started her career in financial services after graduating from university in 2010, by working for a large SIPP provider in Bristol. It was there that Steph worked as bdhSterling’s Account Manager and established the foundations for her relationship with the bdhSterling team.
Steph joined bdhSterling in April 2014 as an Administrator, quickly moving to Senior Administrator and then transitioned to the Client Manager overseeing the Administration team.
Nowadays, Steph heads up the Paraplanning team and ensures delivery of first-class advice to bdhSterling clients and advisers. Steph combines her passion for pension transfer strategies and client satisfaction by working closely with the Administration, Operations and Adviser teams to develop and deliver the very best financial solutions for clients.
Steph holds a BA (Hons) in Marketing from the University of West of England and the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. Steph is studying towards Chartered status.
Steph’s two great loves are pensions and wine (usually not together)! When back in her native West Country visiting family and friends, Steph can be found enjoying the latter. Steph also enjoys watching live music, reading and painting.
Carla joined us as our first Financial Controller and has since taken on the additional role of HR Manager. Whilst this is Carla’s first role within Financial Services, she has many years’ experience in Finance and HR roles within the SME sector.
Carla has used her strength in developing systems and processes to restructure and evolve our Financial and Management Reporting, together with streamlining the overall efficiencies of the Finance Department. Her passion is people and she enjoys being involved in growing our bdh family, ensuring that strong customer focus values are a part of everyone we bring into the business.
In her spare time Carla enjoys Boxing, Body Combat and Yoga classes to balance out her love of prosecco when socialising at the weekend – there’s also a strong chance you’ll see her on the dancefloor when there’s music playing!
Paul began his career in financial services in 2006 within the customer services team for an employee pensions provider and spent 10 years with the company before moving into the financial advice sector.
Paul is the Client Manager for the administration team at bdhSterling and with over 20 years of customer service experience feels that the client is at the heart of the work we do. He believes that the relationships that we build with our clients are key to the business and is always on hand to help clients or members of the administration team, in order to maintain the relationship with the client.
Paul holds qualifications in pensions administration & UK financial service, regulation & ethics which has provided him with an Award in Financial Administration.
In his spare time Paul enjoys spending time with his wife Lauren, walking their pug Ollie in the countryside around Surrey and visiting their family members or watching various sports on TV.
